Does it cost anything?

No. Residents take part free. Businesses are entered free, become finalists free, and win free. The only things that cost money are the printed awards and merchandise in the store, and buying them changes nothing about the results.

What do I need to take part?

An email address. That is the whole account. We confirm it before anything you do counts, so that one person cannot vote as a crowd.

How many times can I nominate or vote?

Once per category for nominations. Once per category every 24 hours for votes, for as long as voting is open.

The place I want is not on the list.

Every ballot has a way to name a place we do not already have. Add it there and we will look at it.

Is my county running?

The front page lists every county with a program open right now. We add counties over time.

Someone told me they won. Where do I see that?

Every winner has a page of its own, and every county has a results page listing all of them. Both stay on this site once the round is over, so a win from three years ago is still there to point somebody at.

I am a business and I do not want to be listed.

Tell us and we will take you off. There is a link to dispute a listing on every entry, and you can also write to us.

Can I pay to win, or pay to be a finalist?

No, and nobody else can either. Nominees may ask people to vote for them. Nominees may not offer money, discounts, or anything else of value in exchange for a vote.
