The best of your county, named by the people who live in it
Every town has places that everybody already knows about: the diner where they know your order, the barber who has been there thirty years, the park you grew up in, the street that goes all out at Christmas. This is where they get named, by the neighbors who go to them.
Anyone who lives in the county can put a name in, and then everyone votes. Each winner gets a page of their own on this site, with the year on it, and it stays here for good. The one from this year will still be here in ten.
It is free, all the way through. Free to nominate, free to vote, free for a business to be entered, and free to win. Winning comes with a page, a badge for your own website and a press release you can send to the paper, and none of that costs anything. If a winner wants something for the window afterward, there are things to buy. Nobody needs to.

You put a name in
One name per category, from anyone who lives in the county. Change your mind once if you need to. It takes about a minute.

The names with the most nominations go to a vote
Then everyone gets a say, once a day, in as many categories as they like, for a few weeks.

The winners get their page
One for every category, with the year on it. It is still there when the next round starts, and the one after that.
